I CAMERISTI DI SORANO

Sorano is a town filled with the sound of music drifting around the streets and down into the valley below.  Musicians from all over the world have come here...some for holidays, some to live permanently.  Playing  together came naturally, born of a love of music.

I Cameristi is a versatile group, and can perform a repertoire ranging from duos to large ensembles, with a variety of instrumental combinations. The Comune di Sorano has recently given the group a regular home in the newly restored “Il Cortilone”. The members of the I Cameristi all work professionally as soloists, in chamber groups and in various orchestras in England, Spain  Germany and America, but all share a passion for Italy!

UROBOROS ENSEMBLE

Uroboros Ensemble, which brings together some of Britain's most accomplished and best-known instrumentalists, was formed in 1982 by the composer Gwyn Pritchard who remains their current Artistic Director, and conductor.  The Ensemble has performed extensively throughout Britain and abroad, and has presented a number of major concert series in London.  They have appeared in leading international festivals including the Warsaw Autumn Festival, The Southampton International New Music Week (where they were the Featured Ensemble), and many others.  They have frequently broadcast on BBC radio and on television, and can be heard on C.D. on the Etcetera label.

Primarily a group specialising in contemporary music, Uroboros Ensemble is noted for presenting programmes that embrace an unusually wide range of musical styles originating from many countries around the world. Several distinguished composers have written pieces specially for them, and they have given numerous world premières. As well as commissioning and performing new works Uroboros Ensemble is also committed to giving further performances of recent music that has been unduly neglected.  In addition to contemporary works the Ensemble also performs music from the classical repertoire reaching as far back as the fourteenth century.

Another important feature of Uroboros Ensemble's work has been the  encouragement of younger and lesser-known composers; both by performing works by  promising new comers and by organising composers' workshops from which significant new talents have emerged.
